The AI Agent That Just Moved Into Your Existing Software

Imagine asking one assistant why last month’s revenue dipped, and it actually knows the answer, because it can already see your Shopify sales, your QuickBooks numbers and your CRM pipeline at the same time.

The problem: your tools don’t talk to each other

Most small businesses run five or six different systems, a CRM, accounting software, a website platform, maybe Klaviyo or another tool for email, and none of them naturally share context. You end up being the integration layer yourself, manually carrying numbers from one tab to another because nothing else will.

What just happened

Meta launched Muse for Small Business on 29 September, an AI agent that connects directly to tools owners already use: Shopify, QuickBooks, Klaviyo, HighLevel, Slack, Notion, Canva, Dropbox and Stripe among them, plus Instagram and Facebook business data. Unlike a standalone chatbot, Muse holds ongoing context on the business itself, what it sells, its brand voice, its common customer questions, and acts across whichever connected tools apply. Meta put it simply: “Small businesses have been growing on our apps for nearly two decades. They told us they’re short on hours, not ideas.”

What it means for your business

This is not really about Meta specifically. It is a preview of where every platform is heading: one AI layer that sits across your existing tools rather than another piece of software you have to learn separately. If you already run two or more of the connected tools, this is worth understanding now rather than discovering it by accident when a staff member turns it on. The bigger question worth sitting with is how comfortable you are with one AI layer having visibility across all of those systems at once, that is a decision worth making deliberately, not by default.

Where to start

Before connecting anything, make a short list of which of your current tools would actually be included, and what data each one holds. Test it on something low stakes first, drafting a social caption or pulling a sales summary, before letting it touch anything customer facing. The goal is understanding what it can see and do before it becomes part of how the business runs day to day.
